Christmas Mufti Pt 2

Hey there bloggers!
Last Christmas we had a Christmas mufti day to fund raise for our schools Christmas hampers which will go to family's that need them. We all had to dress up in something Christmas related and bring a gold coin to school. I wore some antlers and an reindeer headband, along with a red shirt.
Some people have really imaginative costumes and my friend's brother was in a present!
We had assembly together, which is one of the best times for photos when everyone is grouped together in a big red and green explosion!
We did Jump Jam together and my house (I explained our house groups in my athletics post - My house is Kea) won 100 house points for good dancing.
Here is my costume along with some of my classmates:

Athletics Zones

Kia ora bloggers!
If you read my last blog you will know that I made it in to Athletics Zones!
Our school was hosting this zones so we had to arrive there really early.
I had made it into 4 zones, high jump, 75m sprint, 100m sprint and relays, but my favourite was still definitely high jump.
9 schools competed (including my school), but overall Three Kings United took home the trophy...
AGAIN!
Congrats to them though, they did a really great job.
As much as I love high jump the high jump we did was really hard, there were three mats that were way harder then what I was expecting.
every time you completed a jump the bar went up another ten cm or so, so I ended up failing at 1m 10cm, but my friend Torian (http://wpstorianr.blogspot.com/)
managed to jump 1.15.

Athletics Day!

Welcome back bloggers!
A couple days ago our school had it's Athletics Day!
Athletics Day is basically a fun day where we get to do multiple sports and compete for a place in zones (A bigger competition for some sports against other schools).
On Athletics Day we have to dress up in our house colours, red, blue, green and yellow also representing Kea, Ruru, Pukeko and Tui.
I am in Kea.
I like lots of the sports we did but my favourite sport would have to be high jump.
I came 2nd in high jump after jumping 1.13 m and failing 1.14 m, meaning I will be going to zones. We did sprints, high jump, tennis, shot put, team building and long jump.
The juniors did some other sports like jumping hurdles as well.

Here are some photos from the day:

We had a really great day outside and if your school is participating in zones good luck!

Vector Epro8 semifinals

Welcome back bloggers!
About 3 months ago, 4 people got picked to go to the Vector Epro8 Engineering Competition. Epro8 stands for Engineer, Problem solve and Innovate, the 3 main topics of Epro8. In the heats we - Me, Noah, Jaimie and Angelina - made a ginormous rat wheel that had to generate electricity.
Our rat wheel got us to 3rd and we made it to the semifinals.
There were 8 semifinals being held all over the country, and from each semi, 3 teams went through to the grand finals.
This time the challenges were way harder and we ended up 6th after making a conveyor belt that transported fruit into a basket and cleaned the fruit at the same time.
The judge was named Andrew but he told us to call him Your Majesty. He seemed a little rough with the parts, and when we forgot to screw a motor in he knocked it off and said we broke it! Later on he also broke our gearbox ( A group of gears used to either speed or slow down the gears ). Our conveyor belt transported a banana through 2 lasers activating a light (Water) to wash the banana.
Overall it was a really fun day and I hope that I will be able to go back next year!

Choir rehearsal Pt. 2

Hi bloggers!
Yesterday the choir went on another rehearsal at Oratia District School.
Our choir is split into two sides, the A sides and the B sides. There is about 7 schools on each side. My school choir is part of the B side.
Last time I blogged about choir rehearsal we were only rehearsing with the other B sides but this time the A sides and the B sides came together.
On most of the songs the A sides have the melody and we have the harmony.
The melody is the main part of the song like the person singing the song and the harmony is the part of the song that supports the melody and makes the song a success. My favourite song in the entire concert with the A sides and B sides together would have to be Dona Nobis Pacem (Latin for "Grant us peace").
We all had to stand up in the hot hall for hours and unfortunately some people got sick.
Our first dress rehearsal is on the 25th November and then we will be performing on the 26th at the Auckland Town Hall.

Food for thought supermarket trip

Hi bloggers!
I have been away for the first week of term in Nepal, but while I was away someone from the Heart Foundation Charity came and gave my classmates lessons on healthy eating and good food choices. This week we went on a trip to the Mt Roskill New World Supermarket to learn about the different contents in the foods we eat everyday and foods we might eat sometimes. We were given a sheet with different categories of food on it, snack food, muesli bars, breakfast food and so on.
We got into groups and went to the sections.
I was pretty shocked to find out how much sugar and salt there is in some of the muesli bars and snacks I eat. My favourite part was the dairy products section because there was so much cheese!
The snack section was pure torture because we had to walk past all the foods that we love to eat every once in a while, knowing that we weren't allowed to get it.
Here are some photos from the day:

Futsal!

Hey there bloggers!
I just got back from my Nepal holiday!
We have been doing Futsal as this term's sport.
Futsal (Foot-sol) is indoor Football played on a hard court between two teams of five. We had two coaches, Kingsley and Leon. We played a game where we had to stop the ball with whatever body part they yelled out. If the ball kept rolling then we had to do push-ups or star jumps. Then we got split into even teams and got given a number. The coaches yelled out some numbers and those numbers from both teams had to go and play a match against each other, first one to score wins.
My favourite bit was when we were dribbling around in the first game and one of my friends, Noah was trying to nutmeg (Kick the ball through a persons legs) Leon, one of our coaches. I went up behind him and kicked the ball and the ball actually went through his legs!
